Public Benefit Mission
Multifactor, Inc. is a registered Delaware Public Benefit Corporation (PBC), a legal status that reflects our foundational commitment to more than just financial returns. As a PBC, our mission to build a safer internet is legally encoded into our corporate charter. This means our leadership has a legal obligation to consider the impact of our decisions not only on our shareholders but also on society and the public good.
Our mission is to reinvent zero trust for the modern web, and our registered public benefit statement reflects this, empowering all users with the tools to protect their digital lives. This mission is the lens through which we evaluate every aspect of our business, from the products we build to the partnerships we form. It ensures that our growth is always aligned with our values and the positive impact we strive to create.
Our Public Benefit Statement
The purpose of the Corporation is to engage in any lawful act or activity for which corporations may be organized under the Delaware General Corporation Law (“DGCL”), and to create a material positive impact on the cybersecurity and privacy posture of American and international entities engaged in digital operations or utilizing networked technologies, including improving cryptographic resilience against quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and other cyber threats, via the business and operations of the Corporation.
How Our Mission Shapes Our Operations
Our public benefit status is not just a label; it is an active operational framework. It guides our daily decisions and long-term strategy in tangible ways:
- Principled Product Development: We prioritize projects and features that enhance user privacy, security, and accessibility. We are committed to engineering that respects user rights and defends against the evolving threats of the digital world, ensuring our technology serves humanity first.
- Ethical Enforcement: As detailed in our Patent Policy and Security Policy, we manage our intellectual property and respond to security issues in a manner that protects the ecosystem, encourages good-faith research, and avoids stifling innovation.
- Transparent Governance: We are committed to transparency with our users and stakeholders about our mission-driven work and its impact on our community.
Support for At-Risk Individuals and Organizations
A core part of our mission is to provide advanced security to those who need it most, especially those who may lack the resources to acquire it. We believe that robust security is a prerequisite for free expression, democratic participation, and human rights.
Therefore, we strongly encourage organizations and individuals working in sensitive or high-risk areas to contact us. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Political campaigns and election monitoring groups
- Human rights defenders and activists
- Non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
- Independent journalism outlets
- Academic and civil society researchers

Collaborating to Advance a Safer Web
Reinventing zero trust is a challenge that extends beyond the capabilities of any single company. It requires a collective effort from researchers, academics, non-profits, and forward-thinking corporations. We actively seek partners who share our vision and are interested in advancing the state of the art in digital security.
We invite collaboration in several ways:
- Non-Profit Grants & Corporate Sponsorships: We are open to partnerships to fund specific research initiatives aimed at solving critical security challenges.
- Academic Research: We welcome collaboration with academic institutions to publish foundational research and develop new security primitives.
If your organization is interested in funding or collaborating on research that aligns with our public benefit mission, please contact us at [email protected] to explore how we can work together.
